My year in music
As many of my friends and family know, it was a little under a year ago that my interest in playing music got a little boost. As a result of this, I played a lot over the summer and made a lot of new friends through sommerspill. This lead to me starting to play in Oslo Postorkester where the last few months have been dedicated to preparing for the Norwegian national championships for wind band on the 19th - 20th. Over the next couple of weeks there are a couple of opportunities for friends in Oslo to come and hear what I get up to in my spare time.
For those wanting to know what they are getting into before they come, we will be playing Pageant by Vincent Persichetti and the last two movements from Prelude, Siciliano and Rondo (aka. Little Suite for Brass) by Malcom Arnold, all of which you can listen to on our conductor's website.
The first opportunity to come and listen will on Thursday 4th March, at Asker Kulturhus along with three other bands that will be taking part in the national championships. More information can be found on the website of Asker Musikkorps
The Oslo championships are happening on Sunday 14th March (I know this clashes with the most important date in any guy's calendar, but you can get your steak after listening to us ;-) ), are taking place at Oslo Kongressenter (just off Youngstorget) and costs kr. 100 to get in. Oslo Postorkester will be playing at 1700 although there is a small chance that might change, but there are many other bands playing that are worth listening to if you are interested. More information can be found on NMF's website
